A fully automated method for the determination of the viscosity of polymer solutions
2022-03-24
The new research has facilitated the development of an automated and versatile technique for solution viscosity determination of various polymeric materials in different solvents, with test temperatures ranging from room temperature to 200°C. The technique uses a dual capillary viscometer to obtain relative viscosity data to derive the intrinsic viscosity. The series capillary is designed with self-cleaning, self-calibration, reliable and accurate data. The new technique is a practical and convenient technique as an alternative to manual or semi-automated methods.
Application of CRYSTEX in the analysis of the structure and properties of polypropylene multi-reactor autoclave alloys
2021-03-01
Summary of information: Impact polypropylene is a complex multi-component multi-phase polymer alloy system, its matrix is polypropylene, the dispersed phase contains ethylene-propylene random copolymer, ethylene-propylene multi-block copolymer and a small amount of ethylene homopolymer, etc. [1-2]. Impact polypropylene is widely used in automobiles, home appliances and home furnishings and other fields. With the continuous improvement of people's requirements for product quality, high-performance impact polypropylene products have become the goal pursued by manufacturers. The results show that by using more than two copolymerization reactors and controlling the structure of the dispersed phase through different reactors, copolymers with longer copolymerization residence time and more diversified compositions can be obtained, and the changes of copolymer content and copolymer composition can be realized. Thereby improving the performance of impact polypropylene [3-5].
Analysis of Thermal Oxidation Degradation Performance of Impact Polypropylene
2020-08-04
Polyolefin from the polymerization process, processing process, application process to recycling, its easy degradation will be accompanied by the material life always. Degradation will affect the service life of the material and cause economic loss. In order to reduce the loss, the source of degradation and the way of degradation should be clarified. Industry experts are looking for ways to analyze and monitor polyolefin degradation, as well as ways to minimize degradation during material recycling.
THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURE OF THE HIGHLY BRANCHING STRUCTURE OF LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE AND ITS MORPHOLOGY
Low density polyethylene (LDPE) has been commercially produced by free radical polymerization at high pressure and high temperature since 1939, known as the "ICI high pressure process". Although this engineering design has promoted the development of production technology such as autoclave and tubular reactor, the strict high temperature and high pressure polymerization conditions have always been the most critical factor. Such high intensity polymerization conditions give rise to chain transfer reactions, including intermolecular and intramolecular chain transfer reactions, in which short and long chain branches are randomly generated to form a highly branched morphology. The branched structure allows low density polyethylene to have more advantageous properties than linear polyethylene, such as excellent toughness, flexibility and high melt strength.
Application of GPC-IR6 Technology in the Study of High Permeability LDPE/EVA Film
2020-06-30
Low density polyethylene (LDPE) has long chain branches and a large number of short chain branches, and is a widely used plastic packaging material. LDPE has a high water resistance, oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapor also have a certain barrier. EVA, ethylene 2 vinyl acetate copolymer is a thermoplastic elastomer, compared with LDPE EVA large molecular weight part of the introduction of vinyl acetate monomer, with excellent flexibility, impact resistance, resistance to environmental stress cracking, transparency, low temperature resistance and easy processing performance. LDPE and EVA are more similar in molecular chain structure, so they have better compatibility. LDPE/EVA blends give LDPE more excellent flexibility and processability, better air permeability and printability, so it has been widely valued.
Another method of microstructure characterization of impact polypropylene-the application of SGIC-2D technology
Impact polypropylene greatly expands the field of application of polypropylene, because the impact strength of impact polypropylene, especially at low temperatures, is greatly improved compared to pure iPP. The complex structure and processing conditions of propylene have been studied by different methods in many literatures. The most common method of producing impact polypropylene is the dual reactor process, where the first reactor produces homopolymerized polypropylene and the second reactor is ethylene-propylene copolymerization. The characterization of its complex structure shows that MMD and CCD are very important for the processing technology and the final performance of the product. MMD is directly related to the physical properties of the material such as hardness, melt viscosity and crystallization performance. It is also necessary to understand MMD in detail to adjust the catalytic structure and change the catalyst or change the polymerization conditions to improve the final product performance. Although MMD is a very important factor, the physical and mechanical properties of complex samples like this can also be affected by CCD.
Significance of Precise Determination of Small Molecular Weight Part of PP Materials for Automotive Interior Trim
2020-04-02
Analysis of PP Materials and VOC Sources 1. Automotive Interior Polypropylene is light and cheap, easy to recycle, and has excellent mechanical properties and processing properties. It is widely used in automotive interior parts such as automotive dashboards, control panels, door panels, seat parts, glove boxes, air conditioning systems, etc. However, these materials will release VOC harmful to human health to varying degrees. So, where does the car interior VOC come from?
Characteristics of IR6
2020-03-20
IR6 is a very sensitive and stable polyolefin concentration detector, so it can be used as the main detector in separation technologies that require high sensitivity. As a chemical composition detector, after proper calibration, it can well determine the number of carbon methyl (CH3/1000TC). It is mainly used in all types of polyethylene and propylene, including HDPE with low content of short chain branches, and high temperature GPC of ultra-high polyethylene, which can provide both molar mass distribution and short chain branch or comonomer content. Two-dimensional chromatography (SGIC 2D) and analytical cross-fractionation (CFC) also benefit from the high sensitivity of IR6, even for the smallest fractions. Due to the extended spectral range, functional polyolefins and copolymers such as EVA, EBA, can also be analyzed by IR6. Other applications of IR6 include CEF/TREF and TGIC, as well as general polyolefin solution analysis techniques.
