SEPARATION ANALYSIS OF BLOCK POLYOLEFIN

For block polyolefin resin, the analysis of block is very important. Whether it is embedded or not, the content and distribution of block are very important for R & D personnel to fully understand the performance of polyolefin. Temperature gradient cross chromatography TGIC was born under the condition that traditional CCD analysis cannot meet this requirement. The separation principle of TGIC is to realize by using the different crystallization ability of polyolefin and the adsorption and desorption between polyolefin and graphite filler in the column, the unique graphite column also reduces the resin co-crystallization effect.

Detailed introduction:

For block polyolefin resin, the analysis of block is very important. Whether it is embedded or not, the content and distribution of block are very important for R & D personnel to fully understand the performance of polyolefin. Temperature gradient cross chromatography TGIC was born under the condition that traditional CCD analysis cannot meet this requirement. The separation principle of TGIC is to realize by using the different crystallization ability of polyolefin and the adsorption and desorption between polyolefin and graphite filler in the column, the unique graphite column also reduces the resin co-crystallization effect. For example, the block polymer of ethylene and propylene has no obvious change in crystallization performance after the block, and the traditional CCD analysis cannot separate and analyze the block polyolefin according to the different crystallization ability, while TGIC can realize this requirement according to the adsorption and desorption force of linear polyolefin and graphite surface, because the more polyethylene blocks, the greater the adsorption force between the block polymer and the graphite column surface, and the higher energy is required when leaching the polymer, in other words, the fraction with a large number of polyethylene blocks in the block polyolefin resin will be leached out under higher temperature conditions (see figure below).
