Characterization of the microstructure of polyolefins by GPC/SEC
Polymer Char Laboratories specializes in microstructural characterization of polyolefins. Our wealth of knowledge and expertise is helping companies around the world to deepen their understanding of the polyolefin products they produce.
We use GPC-IR and GPC-QC instruments for gel permeation chromatography (GPC) or size exclusion chromatography (SEC) analysis. Both GPC systems are optimized for the analysis of polyolefins and are equipped with infrared detectors IR5 or IR6 for obtaining the molecular weight distribution and chemical composition distribution (or short chain branching (SCB) analysis) of the samples.
Adding a viscometer and a multi-angle light scattering (MALS) detector to the system can provide analytical results of intrinsic viscosity, long chain branching (LCB) and absolute molar mass.
GPC/SEC analysis is particularly useful for bimodal HDPE, LDPE, EP polymers and ultra-high molecular weight polymers, especially when information on short and long branches is desired.
GPC/SEC complies with standard: ISO 16014-4 and ASTM D6474 high temperature GPC/SEC measurement methods.
