The 6th International Polyolefin Characterization Conference in 2016 successfully concluded

On November 6, 2016, Polymer Char Company held the 6th International Polyolefin Characterization Conference (ICPC 2016) in Shanghai Hyatt Hotel, which successfully concluded on November 9. The conference is held every two years to share the cutting-edge technologies and methods in the field of polyolefin characterization and provide a platform for exchange and learning for the majority of polyolefin practitioners.

More than 200 participants are experts in the field of polyolefin characterization and research and development, respectively from the world's important polyolefin research and development, production, processing and application of enterprises, universities and research and development institutions. China has ExxonMobil Shanghai R & D Center, Sabic Shanghai R & D Center, China Petroleum and Petrochemical Research Institute, Sinopec Beijing Chemical Research Institute, Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical Research Institute, Sinopec Qilu Petrochemical Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences Chemical Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences Changchun Yinghua Institute, East China University of Science and Technology and other units participated. During the meeting, a number of well-known polyolefin characterization experts made brilliant reports on the latest polyolefin characterization technology: Qiao Jinliang, President of Sinopec Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry, made a special report on the conference, summarized and reviewed the current situation of China's polyolefin industry, and made a prospect for the development of polyolefin industry in the next two years. President Qiao also introduced the high-performance polyolefin products developed by Beihua Institute, including high melt strength PP, high impact PP, super soft PP, mPE, PE pipe material resin, etc. Professor Lai Shiyao of Low Carbon Institute of Shenhua Group gave an exhilarating explanation on the development and application of new polyolefin materials of Shenhua Group; ms. Guo Meifang of Sinopec Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry, Professor Liu Baiping of East China University of Technology and Ms. Cong Wenjuan of Dow American R & D Center made wonderful reports on new polyolefin characterization technologies and catalyst research and development respectively. Mr. Yau, Wallace consultant of Polymer Char Company, gave a detailed explanation on the development of high temperature gel chromatography analysis instruments, the characterization of polyolefin branches, data calculation and processing, and the future challenges and opportunities of GPC instruments; mr. Kang Shuhui, senior engineer of ExxonMobil Company, introduced in detail the influence of hydrogen deuterium exchange process on the molecular weight and comonomer content of deuterated polyolefin by using GPC-IR. Mr. Zhou Zhe of Dow Chemical Company made relevant exchanges on the research of 10mm high temperature temperature probe in characterization of polyolefin. Mr. Anton Ginzburg of Sabic Company introduced the process of polyolefin synthesis and characterization automation. Mr. Peter Montag of Germany vividly explained the combined high temperature detector technology.

The participants responded well to the results of the meeting, learned about the cutting-edge technology in the field of polyolefin characterization in the world, broadened their horizons and ideas, and benefited a lot. At the cocktail party during the conference, the participants had in-depth exchanges with relevant people on topics of interest to them.
